Season three of this musical drama was commissioned on the 23rd day of May 2010 and premiered on the 20th of September 2011. In this season, the glee club is short of members and needs to recruit immediately. The members are assigned the project of getting new singers. Meanwhile, the cheerleading coach, Sue, sends out girls, to sabotage the piano used by the glee club. In an attempt to improve their dancing, Will prepares a boot camp for some of the glee club members. Shelby Corcoan is hired to set up a glee club at the McKinley High School. Kurt also starts campaigning for senior class president.

Mike’s father wants him to quit glee club after he gets an A on a chemistry test. However, he instead takes auditions for the school musical. Mercedes also auditions but later quits and joins the rival glee club at McKinley. Brittany and Rachel also join the race for senior class president. Finally, the cast for the musical is posted. Santana and Brittany are dating officially, and they are lured to Shelby’s new glee club. An Irish student also arrives at McKinley, and he stays at Brittany’s house.
The musical is practiced and eventually performed. Mike and his father argue, with Mike insisting that he wants to become a professional dancer. Kurt & Blain and Rachel & Finn argue about having sex. The directors of both glee clubs encourage some friendly competition between their clubs. However, Santana ignores the friendly part and hounds the members for results that are catastrophic. Rachel withdraws from the race for senior class president and gives her support to Kurt. Santana comes out to her family, and Puck falls in love with Shelby. Things between Puck and Quinn become complex and Sebastian gives Blaine another shot.
